Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. Walking along the Narrows Beach last fall inspired me to paint this scene. Where else in the world can someone experience the beauty of fall color and a walk along a beach at the same time.
The canvas was first textured with modeling clay. After that step dried, I painted over the top of it with water-based oils and water. The painting ended up with a very matte finish to it. Next time I'll try painting Gesso over the modeling clay to see if I can reduce the absorbancy.
