Walking along the Narrows Beach last fall inspired me to paint this scene. Where else in the world can someone experience the beauty of fall color and a walk along a beach at the same time.
The canvas was first textured with modeling clay. After that step dried, I painted over the top of it with water-based oils and water. The painting ended up with a very matte finish to it. Next time I'll try painting Gesso over the modeling clay to see if I can reduce the absorbancy.
