Artist's Description
I recently went to a Volkswagen show in Seattle. Never in my life had I seen so many Volkswagons and VW lovers in one area.
My first car was a 71 VW Beetle and it was a pale, almost white, shade of pink.
Just a week prior to going to the show, we purchased a 1965 VW bug to restore.
My objection at this show wasn't to photograph all the shiny cars, but to find the ones that had a natural patina. This image is from a Volkswagen Beetle's fender. It made me think of the movement of water against a sandy shore.
It also looks a bit like the salt lakes in Utah look from an airplane.
This one was a collaberation of nature and a human sanding layers of paint down revealing the different colors this VW Bug has had over the years.
