Peach Fuzz

Jani Freimann
Medium
Painting - Watercolor/pastel
Description
The fuzziness of the peach is achieved by using pastel over the watercolor. You may notice that this bowl of peaches and the peaches next to it are reflecting in the window. The three peaches next to the bowl are also reflecting in the side of the bowl.
This is an award winning watercolor painting that was painted from a photograph that I took of a bowl of peaches ripening on my kitchen windowsill. I had purchased a box of peaches at a fruit stand in Ellensburg, Washington on my way back from Spokane.
I loved how the light hit them in the morning. It was about 10:00 am. I was awarded 1st place in a contest because of the use of color, the use of reflective lighting, the triangulation of reflections (in the window, the bowl, and the shadows) and the composition as a whole. It is always good to hear the reasons why a judge chooses to award one of my paintings.
This is the same bowl of peaches as in the painting 'Many Blind Peaches' just a different time of day and without the blind pulled down.
The original hangs in my dinning room against a yellow wall as part of my private collection.
