I was commissioned to do a painting that represented Psalms 23. I did two versions. This one and the one called Green Pastures 1.
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me... Psalm 23
The green pastures weren't green like we think of green pastures. The shepherds back then and still to this day guide their flocks around rocky hills. It doesn't look green at all. The hills look barren except for the rocks and the well-worn trails made by the sheep. What isn't visible from a distance is the sprigs of grass next to each convergence of rocks. They are on the move eating as they went from one rocky out cropping to another following their shepherd from one sprig of grass to the next sprig of grass completely dependent on the shep...
